A NOTE ON APPROACH
Philosophy
Most people don’t really need better photographs.
What they need is someone who can actually see them.
Not the version they think they’re supposed to be, but who they really are underneath all of that.
After almost twenty years of doing this work, that’s the thing I’ve learned more than anything else.
The best pictures don’t come from trying harder, especially when it comes to personal brand photography.
They don’t come from performing for the camera either.
The best moments happen when the person stops trying.
A lot of people show up thinking I’m going to direct them the whole time.
Or that somehow I’m supposed to give them confidence.
But that’s not really my job.
What most people actually need is permission to just be themselves.
That really is the secret sauce. Without any pressure or expectations.
And when that finally happens….when someone relaxes and their guard drops, something miraculous happens.
The camera stops being about how they look.
And the photographs start becoming something else.
They become a small record of who that person really was in that moment.
Becoming
The work has always been about helping people see themselves differently.
Over time, that idea grew beyond the camera and into something more personal: a project exploring identity, ageing, purpose and what it means to make the most of the years ahead.
Becoming is where I explore those questions — through conversations, ideas and stories about becoming more fully ourselves.
