Destination Wedding Photographer in Carcassonne, France
I very nearly didn't make this wedding. Having booked and paid for my flight in full a year in advance, I thought my seat on the aircraft was assured. Apparently not! British Airways had kindly oversold a number of seats on the flight, so when I attempted to check in at Heathrow I was told in no uncertain terms that I was not guaranteed a seat and that I, along with four other passengers, were on stand by. At least, that was BA's view though my view was that by hook or by crook, I HAD to be on that flight. So after an hour of pleading, begging, harrying and harassment the man stood at the BA Check In desk eventually took pity on me and gave me the best seat on the plane, seat 1A. Phew I could at last relax.
I'd been beside myself with excitement at the prospect of shooting Carolyn & Chris' wedding photographs at Domaine Gayda for longer than I care to remember. This super destination wedding venue is nestled in the foothills of the Pyrenees and is set within a working vineyard in the heart of the Languedoc region, near Carcassonne.
The spellbinding views that Domaine Gayda commands across to the Pyrenees is a huge draw and it is unsurprising that this venue has become so popular with couples looking to tie the knot overseas, especially with the gorgeous gites on site making perfect accommodation for friends and relations.
The bride Carolyn, being originally from Bermuda had flown in a huge contingent from that beautiful isle. Borne out of the Bermudan theme was the very brilliant idea that the dress code for the men should be Bermuda shorts and so Carolyn's father, groom Chris, Chris' best man Shawn and all the ushers wore Bermuda shorts. Those guys wore their Bermuda shorts with style, and in a vast range of hues! For the wedding itself, Carolyn and Chris vows were taken by the pool with the drinks reception and wedding breakfast taking place a short walk away at the Maison Gayda. After a week of rain, the sun finally graced us with her presence and we were blessed with glorious weather for pretty much most of the day. It was a wonderful day with dance floor action until the very early hours though at 2.30am I had to call it a day. And what a day it was. A flawless day which will stay with me for a very long time indeed. Many congratulations to Carolyn & Chris and thank you again for making me feel so welcome as a destination wedding photographer London.
